Research & Capacity development

Research in the public sector is essential for evidence-based decision making, policy development and improvement, program evaluation, addressing societal challenges, knowledge generation and sharing, and building organizational capacity. It is a critical tool for promoting effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability in public administration and governance. The focus areas of research in the coming five years of the School of Management & Public Administration (SMPA) include:

1. Social and Economic Issues

School of Management & Public Administration- SMPA conducts research on social and economic issues in Somalia. This research likely involves studying topics such as poverty, inequality, unemployment, and other socio-economic challenges faced by the country. The research aims to provide insights and recommendations to address these issues and contribute to national development.

2. Governance and Leadership

SMPA focuses on research related to governance structures, policies, and regulations in the public sector. This research may explore topics such as transparency, accountability, public sector reforms, and effective leadership practices. The main objective is to promote good governance and enhance the capacity of public servants to lead effectively.

3. Capacity Evaluation

The school conducts research to assess the strengths and weaknesses of organizations, including governmental bodies. This research likely involves evaluating the effectiveness of existing systems, processes, and structures within public sector institutions. The findings help identify areas for improvement and inform capacity-building initiatives.

4. Public Administration Best Practices

School of Management & Public Administration likely engages in research to identify and promote best practices in public administration.
